Alvarado Elementary South teachers took their lesson about responsibilities in the family and sharing responsibilities to another level last week. Each second grade class read the Little Red Hen and discussed the story in reference to responsibilities … and then made bread.

The lesson was part of an Interacting with Others: Family unit. The students discussed some of the many roles that family members take on to maintain a properly functioning family.

“All of the first graders enjoyed the demonstrations and baking in their classrooms,” first grade teacher Laura Smaltz said.
